|

Hi
Nowadays, we hardly come across any female duets in Tamil movies. But our Master had composed so many female duets. He reserved the best for P Suseela/L R Easwari combination. Though he had composed a lot of numbers involving these two queens, the following 20 are perhaps the best and most unforgettable:
01. Malarukku Thendral Pagayanal (Enga Veettu Pillai)
02. Thoodhu Sella Oru Thozhi Illai Yena (Pachai Vilakku)
03. Kadavul Thantha Iru Malargal (Iru Malargal)
04. Chithirap Poovizhi Vaasaliley (Idayathil Nee)
05. Unadhu Malar Kodiyile Enadhu Malar Madiyile (Paadha Kanikkai)
06. Sonnadhellam Nadathiduvar Solladi Kiliye (Paadha Kanikkai)
07. Vaadiyamma Vaadi (Panakkara Kudumbam)
08. Paattonru Tharuvar Paaradiyamma (Server Sundaram)
09. Ponnazhagu Penmai Sindhum Punnagai Enna (Rikshakkaran)
10. Ninaithal Sirippu Varum (Bama Vijayam)
11. Adi Podi Paithiyakkari (Thamarai Nenjam)
12. Kulunga Kulunga Sirikkum (Kai Kodutha Deivam)
13. Ennadi Mayakkama Solladi (Savaley Samali)
14. Anubavi Raaja Anubavi (Anubavi Raaja Anubavi)
15. Paaladai Meni Pani Vaadai Kaatril (Poovaa Thalayaa)
16. Adi Yendi Asattu Penney (Kanni Pen)
17. Naan Oru Kadhanayagi (Moonru Mudichu)
18. Kannadi Meniyadi Thanneeril Adhuthadi (Kodi Malar)
19. Paayudhu Paayudhu Kannamma (Mani Osai)
20. Nandhaandhi Kaathi (Pudhiya Bhoomi)
I would like others to add more to this list.
Regards,
Venu Soundar |

Dear Ram,
Thanks for your support. I am only too delighted to rejoin the "MSV Mission" and at the same time feel sorry for having stayed away for such a lengthy period.
I take this opportunity to compliment you and others at MSV Times, for the excellent job being carried out by you all.

Hi,
Apart from the plethora of PS-LRE duets, MSV alone and in combo with TKR has given us memorable TMS-PBS duets some of which I will list.
1. Ponnondru Kanden - most famous of this duo from Padithal Mattum Poduma
2. Kavalaigal Kidakkattum - Pandha Paasam
3. Aval parandu Ponale - Paar Magale Paar
4. Nallavan Enakku Naane Nallavan - Padithal Mattum Poduma
5. Paadinaal Oru Paattu - Oru Thai Makkal
6. (with Seergazhi) Aarodum Mannil - Pazhani
7. (with SG and Tiruchi Loganathan) Mazhai Kodukkum Kodayum - Karnan
(perhaps the only song sung together by this quartet)!
Regards,

Friends,
There is yet another strange combination of P.Sushila and LR Eswari. This is with KJJ. The Nenjatthai alli konjam thaa thaa from Kaadalikka Nerammillai has a unique experiment. LRE starts with a hum and continues till the end of the song. Only at the end, she joins PS in finishing the song, while KJJ accompanies PS, like in a duet. Another unique accompaniment is the whistle-the fourth 'singer' of the song!! As usual, LRE+PS combo is a unique gem.

Dear Mr.Sai Saravanan,
In your reference to 'nenjathai aLLikkonjam thA' from the film "K n", you have touched upon the long hum by LRE. OK . But, through the middle of the song [as Rajasree moves outward from the glass-roofed chamber of Ooty botanic garden] the long shrill humming that we hear is by LR Anjali. the sister of LRE. Interestingly, the name of the singer LRA is printed on the graphite record for this song. The stretch of the hum is indeed exceptionally long for a humming.
Thank you for the opportunity.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai. _________________ Prof. K. Raman

Dear Professor,
Is it that four people have contributed to this song (KJJ, PS, LRE & LRA)? Or, was that only LRA and LRE? The whistle is another dimension, anyway!!

Dear Sai Saravanan,
Your question is right; 4 singers, PS KJJ, LRE and LRA are involved. Of course the early humming is by LRE and through the middle of the song, the long-winding humming was by LRA. The whistling was perhaps by MS Raju. Thanks for the occasion. Warm regards

Dear professor,
Thanks for the clarification. It was an interesting piece of information and we could learn a few more things on the style of humming, whistling, duet in pairs, etc., handled by MM.
