Dear Friends,
Despite my limitations as an analyst/ writer, I still dare writing now and then just to recall pages of history from TF industry. One of our friends suggested 'why not some MGR movies?' I do not really know if there has been any value from these recalls of history. Yet, in order that something takes a logical course, I am toying with the idea of completing the present series with another movie- a milestone item for MGR.
This movie has had several niceties uncommon in those days, with a big troupe of artistes and shot practically out doors including some of the sets erected for the storyline.
It brought together BR Pantulu and MGR, besides MGR and Jayalalithaa as lead pair for years.
It turned out a megahit for filmlovers in general and to MGR fans to a large measure.
Also, it registered a firm message in the industry that MGR in colour films as a formula for success.
While it brought together so many combinations, the movie happened tobe the last straw on camel's back; I mean the segregation of the duo Viswanathan -- Ramamurthy into MSV and TKR who till then were unknown by their initials! What happened thereafter is indelible history. Interestingly MSV had to wait for a while after this movie, before the world at large recognized the 'contributor'.
Yes, I am referring to "Aayiraththil oruvan" which faithfully swung fortune in favour of many, proving a point or two in subsequent politics in TN.
Let us try to see some critical elements in the movie in our subsequent efforts.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai.
