Dear Friends,
Most melancholy numbers from MSV stable have been assigned to TMS/PS barring very few. Here in I recall , some of those.

'malarndhum malarAdha pAdhi malar pOla' "pAsa malar" TMS PS
This song enjoys several statures simultaneously -as a poetic beauty, literary piece, apt consummation, serene flow, musical interpretation of sobre mood bordering on melancholy and what not. Look at the punch line

'siragil enai moodi arumai magaL pOla vaLarththa kadhai sollavA?'
kanavil ninaiyAdha kAlam idai vandhu piraththa kadhai koorava?' Only KD can crystallize the story thus; MSV has lent such a a clssy touch of musical notes that for all years to come TF cannot hope to achieve a near parallel.

'nAn unnai azhaikkavillai' "engirundhO vandhAL" TMS
'nAn chinnakkuzhandhai amma' is KD's signature in presenting the story just in a word.
'ammammA thambi endru nambi' "rAja pArt Rangadurai" TMS
Referring to Epic characters KD pegs his stamp
'adhu pAsamanrO' 'idhu vEshamanrO' IS A CRACKING OF WHIP ON THE ALTER EGO OF THE INDIFFERENT BROTHER. As ever MSV raptures through with an all too emotive tune and fertile orchestration with traditional instruments in vogue on drama theatres.

'pAlootti vaLarththa kiLi' "Gowravam" TMS
'vedhanaikku oru maganai veettinilE vaLarthu vandhEn'
'aandavan sodhanaiyO' 'yAr koduththa bOdhanaiyO'
'theeyilE irangivittAn thirumba vandhu thAL paNivAn' are immaculate phrases that portray the characters in dispute
TMS has been driven to the pinnacle by MSV through some heavy-hearted tune backed up by robust orchestration that keeps a lower profile in order to substantiate the mood.

'kANa vandha kAtchi enna veLLi nilaVE' "Baghyalakshmi" PS
A song rich in pun yet soaked in melancholy, where a deserted girl locates her lover in a new company and the narrative presents the ground reality however unintended it was. A song with lot of goose bumps while singing, just to portray the scene viewed as against the inner turmoil of the girl. My awe for KD MSV keeps reaching dimensions I am unable to convey.

' unnidaththil ennai koduththEn' "avaLukkendru oru manam" SJ
What a level of verbal decency in framing the thought ! Begins as an innocuous love song but travels with an undercurrent of 'fear-ridden pathos' I think MSV scores over KD as this is out and out an MDs portrayal of sadness, though the only phrase to suggest so is kAlayil kanavugaL engE'. No doubt SJ has been drilled through this number with unabated lingering of sorrow albeit a screen presentation of romance suggesting the trouble in store.

More would follow
Warm regards, Requesting friends to add .
