One of the greatest melodies scored by MSV is this song from Pookari- Kathalin Pon Veethiyil... I have 2versions of this song and the orchestration is just unbelievable(as usual 'cause it's by MSV) and different preludes for these 2 versions. MSV is probably one person who had throughly analysed about S. Janaki's capabilities and has given innumerable melodies that still rule the charts. By the way Ram, when are we going to hear the audio section? I am sure many will be eagerly awaiting this news. May be a Christmas Bonanza- Audio tracks on MSVTIMES.COM, what say Ram????? _________________ vaidymsv |

saradha_sn your statement "MSV always chose shenoy for pathos.." is not fully correct. He is a versatile deployer of the great instrument. There are many happy songs of MSV where shenoy plays a dominant part. Some examples are: "poi vaa magaLe...(Karnan)", "veLLi maNi osaiyile...(iru malargal)", "unnidathil ennai koduththen..(avaLukkendru Or manam)". This versatality is the greatness of MSV!
Incidentally, why no body is interested in the analysis of the great lullabies of MSV ??? _________________ endrummsv |

Dear Viswapriyan & Ms. Sharadha Prakash,
Great to see you all discussing about the Shehnai usage by MSV. One heart rending song my MSV and inimitable Shehnai is- Sumai Thangi Sayndhaal from the movie Thanga Padhakkam. The prelude starts with a very high twister followed by Shehnai interludes. Truely a Master Piece by our Master Creator!
Regards

I think none of us mentioned about YAAR ANTHA NILAVU from shanthi.
We cannot believe that song was composed during 60's.
ALL TIME BEST FROM MSV.

Sankaranarayanan,
An info about "kuyilAga nAn irundhenna...": This song was originally meant for "panchavarnakiLi". Later on, G.N.Velumani who was the producer of "panchavarnakiLi" (another master piece of MSV) and "selvamagaL" shifted it to the latter _________________ endrummsv |

CHELLAKILIYE MELLA PESU
No match for this song. I dont think they picturised with standard set by our master. True TMS was outstanding in this song.

One of the less popular, almost unknown but a very melodious song from "avaLukkendru Or manam" is "malar edhu en kaNgaL thanendru solvEnadi..." by PS. It is a totally different melody by the senior maestro! _________________ endrummsv |

the man is above all when u hear the way he handle his orchestras. he has marvlled in using bangos, drums, tabla an other percussion instruments.
the song poomalaiyil in ooty varai uravu he uses tabla for the first two lines and bangos for next two lines in the pallavi. unparellel!!!!!!!
he and tvr have done a stupendous job in karnan. unimaginable orchestration. i reallylove this soul a great and unparelleled composer.[/b] |

Song from PANNA THOTTAM. We have PESUVATHU KILIYA all time hit.
I would like point out ORU NAAL IRAVIL KAN URAKKAM PIDIKAVILLI .
Just hear extra stretch in the first line when PS repeats same line again.
ORUNAAAAAL IRAVIL and then VARUVAAAN KANNAN. When you read this it will look very simple but this extra punch gave different dimension to this song. Soft melody. Just hear during night you will feel the difference.
