Dear Friends,
I know with all certainty that it is beyond human efforts to showcase even in a nutshell, the magnitude of the contribution from THE TWO KINGS -KAVI ARASAR and MELLISAI MANNAR. Look at the beauty of their profession titles- KAVI and MELLISAI though aptly ending in epithets that signify their prowess as kings of their domains. Unlike the traditional history of Kingdoms known to be of rivalry, war, territorial aggression, suppression of freedom within territory and such other aberrations, these two KINGS chose to be majestic friends and I am painfully recalling the ''pAsa malar'' lines, 'kanavil ninaiyAdha kAlam idai vandhu piriththa kadhai' that ably fits the scenario devoid of Kavi Arasar, though Mellisai Mannar keeps holding their flag on high mast, never to be equalled. That the independently born personalities [ KA and MM] were functionally twins has been reiterated several times by several people on varied occasions.
IT CAN READILY BE SUBSTANTIATED FROM DATA THAT, they used to address in singular and KA in all public references, has used the prefix''thambi'' to MSV. Innumerable instances of 'mock fight' between the two has rewarded the TF industry by way of excellent songs. If we carefully view the magnificent registration of MSV's variety in his career just by late 50s- early 60s, KANNADASAN has contributed amply by fielding the candidature of MSV as MD whenever and wherever possible. To my knowledge, in all [or most?] movies that he himself produced, he has availed of MSV's potential for variety. What KD said of MSV on the occasion of return from Russia, stands testimony to the faith that Kannadasan places on MSV. His quote 'thambi visuvanathanukku ulagil endha idaththil enna isai irukkiradhu endru nangu therium' Avanukku iNaiyAga thirai ulagil yArum pirandhadhum illai , ini pirakkappOvadhum illai'. These words are not only prophetic [as KA and MSV have intimately and intricately understood each other] but authentic assertions. It was DIVINITY-DICTATED every inch and words can not truly portray the rich value behind this association. It has been one of ethereal bondage transcending the vagaries of earthly dictates among persons.
How else could MSV have mustered support from all quarters in his effort to install the statue of Kannadsan in a period when the industry had thanklessly turned materialistic? I have read decades back that KD used to visit MSV in the latter's dream and chat with him .On one such occasion, the statue issue figured it seems.
Also, MSV's implicit observance of his promise to KD to render 'pullAguzhal koduththa moongilgaLe' on all stage events, is proof of the adoration MSV has for KD. How KD was restless with SS Vasan's T&C for songs of 'vAzhkkai padagu' and MSV's pacifying the Kavignar has [truly resulted in a gold mine of songs from that movie] need to be gleefully acknowledged .
Had it not been for such a wonderful package as KD-MSV, TFM would have been impoverished in silence and we would have never known the line segregating calibre from the pedestrian pieces.

Please add your ideas too.

Warm regards K.Raman Madurai

Dear Professor,

You have nicely expressed on the depth of bondage that was there between Kavirarasar and Mellisai Mannar and that has resulted in a finest collection of songs which stood test of time and remain still young and fresh !!

Wonderful writing in the entire series which you have started !
