Dear friends,
After several months, I chose to listen to this seductive piece by SPB -LRE from MSV. The lyric per se is quite simple . But MM has decorated this number in his inimitable style by extracting the best out of singers as much as what he has pulled out of his orchestra.
What makes this song a special item?
In a word I can say ''the packaging'' of this song. Look at the brilliant nuances that MSV has employed in dealing with this simple lyric.
The song opens on ROMANTIC NOTE OF A AH AA AH and a responsive whistling lifting the song to its zenith from the word go.
SPB gels emotion into words when he pathetically appeals
''appOdhum thaLLippOdakkoodAdhu''
The pallavi opening is presented on a golden platter through a vibrant nutty percussion that is brilliant in concept and execution, soon taken over by a majestic array of violins which swiftly touch the octaves that do justice to 'gentlemanly romance' with SPB lamenting
'ponnAna angaththai ellAm kaNNalE pArththAl pOdhuma in a typical appeal that draws LRE's penchant declarative
'KaNdAlum thithikkum enrAlum peNmai unnai sandhikkum' how casually she submits in an emotive surrender to urge.
In the interlude MSV has gifted a bonanza of string, whistle and the mesmeric percussion quickly handing over to SPB who exudes
''Muthucharam vAdum vaNNam mella aNaiththEn 10 dharam vAngikoLLa nenjil ninaithEn '' and LRE is too brilliant to let any occasion slip by and now she lays open a tempting offer
''muththamidalAm satru poruththAl'
'saththmiduvEn thoodhu koduththal'' rendered to perfection where a conditional declarative comes forth with a seductive husk in voice and here MSV comes in with his commanding violin cascade that simply lifts the mood further for the winding charaNam
''SattangaL thittangaL ellAm .... to which LRE POLITELY PACIFIES 'paNpAdu mArippoga KoodumA'
It is a triumphant game of MD, singers and orchestra who have together elevated the lyric to the status of a romantic verse. MSV is exceptionally superb as ever.

Dear Professor,
One of those special compositions keeping SPB in mind, probably! So melodious is his voice, aptly bolstered by the bold singing by LRE, to bring in lots of contrast. This element makes it strikingly rich in emotions and drama. The music in the background appears brilliant especially the violin sections, supported by percussion. MM plays with the placement of words to provide a competition or jugalbandi with the percussion. It is like a melting chocolate to even remind its lines, leave alone listen!!

Dear Mr. Ramesh,
The song 'engirundhO aasaigaL' from ''chandrOdhayam'' by PS TMS is a bouquet of a musical bonanza in every sense of the term . There is beauty in lyric, emotion in singing , a caressing orchestration, timely dips /ups in voice and above all a romantic winding up availing of a variable tone and note ending in sedate humming. Though I am not the right person to analyze the song, any attempt towards it cannot be dismissed as irrelevant. Soon I shall touch up on such facets which confer the 'uniqueness' on to this piece, characteristic to MSV as composer.
