Dear Friends,
Kavignar KaNNadAsan has been a treasure mine full of vibrant ideas delivering complex philosophy in the simplest possible terms. The song from "sooriya kAnthi " stands testimony to the above observation.

The situation relates to a sequence of events that soak the movie hero into a state of self pity driving him to despair of 'inferiority complex' in the company of his economically prosperous wife. The pair attends a function where this song appears on stage, delivered by kavignar as the screen artiste, accompanied by a numerically moderate orchestra.

Needless to rewrite the very lyric as it is well known by its popularity from its apt impact on the story.
KaNNadAsan has chosen specific examples to highlight the idea that disparity between persons can jeopardize harmony. Of the various analogies selected by him the richest by novelty is

'' neeyun nAnum sErnthirundhOn nilavum vAnum pOlE
nAn nilavu pOla thEyndhu vandhEn nee vaLarnthadhAlE"

what a lamentation -indisputably honest in contention though magnificently simple in utterance! Oh Kavignar we miss you in this hour of TFM's decline.

Certainly a lot can be said of this song. Yet I refrain, so that some other perceptions can be received here. MSV -as ever has given a fitting tune and orchestration with his trusted violinist Ronnie David appearing in the song picturized in the movie.
More if need be.

Warm regards K.Raman Madurai

Dear SR S,
Yes, the song is a male lamentation; as such, the story is woven representing a sense of 'deprivation' for a man who desires being rated the 'breadwinner'. The events in the story run counter to his desire rendering him all the more deprived. Naturally, the lyricist has to oblige the story - a tradition so very avidly cultivated by KD-MSV combo in that era. So, the songs of that era keep themselves with the vigour of youth and keep growing younger in spirit. Presently I am viewing those pieces with supreme respect for their sheer relevance.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Warm regards K.Raman Madurai.
