Dear friends,
Posted under 'Lyrics', for its very simple and yet captivating assemblage of similies, this song certainly registered an indelible stamp of authority for MSV TKR by virtue of the totally mesmerizing ludes- pre, inter and post which brilliantly embrace the mood of the lyric and singing. Since this song was during the early tenure of VR especially in the then score styles practised by other MDs- G.R, KV M and the senior clan SMS, Sudarsanam and others, it proclaimed unequivocally the mastery of song composition.
Yes, I mean every genre of work to the varied components- lyric, tune, voice choice, sedate but emotive singing and a fitting orchestration. There is a hidden nuance in the pallavi lines which keep gaining pace with every line in the stanza. You just murmur the pallavi and feel what I attempt to say.
Besides, at a time when cine songs were just expressions of mood through lyric, mood through orchestral embellishment cognate with words and tune added a supreme complement to the listening pleasure.
Obviously, MSV has had it in him to work on these trends long before listeners and industry 'demanded' such structuring of songs. That the legend is a blessed soul in rapidly assessing the tonal value of words and their meanings- explicit or innate deserves being highlighted for posterity.
What makes me say so is , the treatment given to each descriptive term that KD has used in superlative style. As a matter of fact, each word subtly differs from its counterpart in the preceding /succeeding lines in the way it has been tuned to bring out the emotion in the most casual way instead of looking 'laboured'. There is a saying which prescribes "labouring is a part of quality efforts, though the products seldom reveal them"
Every syllable uttered or muted in this song richly carries an impact that can just be felt and not sufficiently explained.
Of the so many 'vasantham' songs in TFM, this male has a place of pride, no matter how often we have heard it. MSV has infused lasting soul into this number. What a piece of elegance is this song. Kudos.
