Dear Friends,
It was yet another great opportunity for me to be present amongst you all, and more memorable to be near our MM. Thanks to all our forum friends for making this happen. It was again the tireless efforts by many of you in bringing so many yesteryear greats and organising the event so well. I wish to thank once again,
Sai Saravanan

Dear Friends,

For the benefit of those who could not attend the function on 22nd June, I would like to quote an interesting incident told by Shri Pulamai Pithan during his speech, to highlight that MSV knows Music, Music, only Music and nothing but Music.

While composing music for the song சிந்து நதியின் மிசை நிலவினிலே for the movie கை கொடுத்த தெய்வம், MSV referred the line 'சுந்தரத் தெலுங்கினில் பாட்டிசைத்து' to Director K S Gopalakrishnan and said "பாட்டிசைத்து-ங்கறது பாட்டி செத்து-ங்கரா மாதிரி கேக்குது.

It only shows how innocent was MSV that the lyricist was Mahakavi Bharathiar and he was no more. As we all know, MSV-க்கு இசையைத் தவிர வேறு எதுவும் தெரியாது.

Long Live MSV and His mesmerizing music.

Regards,
Venu Soundar

Dear Friends,
While MSV is known for his child-like innocence, the instance relating to "Sindhu nadhiyin misai nilavinilE" could have been narrated in better detail. As per the writings in 1970s [ though the incident was about 7 years old by then], the hand-scribed lyric was confusing with the tamil script for 'sai' looking like 'se'; poor MSV lamented to KSG " ENNAYYA IDHU, PATTI SETHTHU, PETHTHI SETHTHU' nu orE amangalamA irukkE' kAVIGNARAI VARA SOLLUNGA , ENNANU KETTUTTU compose paNNalAm'. The true error was with the scribe who failed to make the letters clear. Anyway MSV 's seemingly naive portrayal of self also tells us that he only wanted clarification from the lyricist and was not inclined bulldoze the lyric however uncomfortable the piece was. This appeared in a few weeklies and by 1988 MSV himself spoke about it on a TV presentation.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Warm regards K.Raman Madurai

PS : MSV is the lone composer who has infused genuine life to classic works of Mahakavi, Or Bharathi Dasan or such classics as Thiruvasagam or even pieces of lyric by the likes of Randor Guy.

MSV might not have been unaware of the fact that the poem was Bharathi's and Bharathi was alive. He might have suggested that Kavignar might be consulted about the correct form. I think PP's narration of this incident was not in good taste.

Even Kavignar's speech on MSV's ignorance might have been exaggerated. While MSV might have not known that Tashkent was the name of a city in the USSR, he might not have responded to the term 'poRiyiyal thuRai' by naively asking whether there were departments for 'poRiyal' 'koottu' etc. Kavignar was probably taking liberties with MSV in view of the closeness between the two. Kavgnar obviously exageerated MSV's areas of ignorance to create an effect about MSV's extraordinary knowledge in the area of music.

People like PP should be more restrained in 'quoting' such dubious incidents.

The first sentence must read:

MSV might not have been unaware of the fact that the poem was Bharathi's and that Bharathi was not alive

From the blog of Mr Selvakumar -- dear selva thank you verymuch

MSVTIMES.COM என்பது எம்.
