Dear All,

Two years back TMS, PBS, TKR and MSV - all entered into eternal glory at short intervals. Now a few days back it was Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and today it is our most respected Mr. Cho Ramasamy.

When the time came for launching MSVTIMES.COM in December 2006, we were pondering over many names including those from the film & music world. We faced enormous difficulties to mobilise support for a venue for launch which was curtly turned down by everyone. Ramki and I who were in one of the famous landmarks in our city sporting an iconic studio were literally disappointed as all our frantic appeals inside this studio for this venue and outside where an equally iconic Kalyana Mandapam owned by this group, blatantly refused to yield. Humiliated by all these people, the Core Crew finally decided on Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan at Mylapore. I did express my absolute displeasure to Shri. MSV about how we were treated and thus was our decision born to completely boycott the film world from attending this event for which Shri. MSV never objected. Only those who had worked with Shri. MSV were invited and honoured with memontoes which they happlily accepted.

It was Shri. MSV who had suggested the name of Cho Ramasamy to be the Chief Guest which we whole heartedly welcomed as not only was Cho a legendary journalist, but an ardent devotee of MSV! When we had gone to his office in RA Puram to formally finalise the date, after a heart warming welcome we were led into his cabin. There was a great deal of affection and reverence exchanged between them. Cho offered his executive chair to MSV but the latter refused it and both wouldn't sit down. At one stage, Cho forcibly pulled MSV and made him occupy his chair. Such was the respect Cho had for MSV. He gladly agreed to be the Chief Guest and we left with our hearts filled with happiness. The rest is a decade old history!!

The world of journalism has not only lost a veteran but a man of great character, guts, wits, intelligence and above all his tenacity to call a spade, a spade. The void will surely be palpable and his loss irreplaceable forever.

MSVTIMES.COM pays its glorious tributes to this rarest of rare phenomenon in the world of journalism. His immense contribution to true reporting, his frank and open minded comments to take on any politician in India unmindful of the threats to his life shall ever be remembered.

RIP Cho Sir. MSVTIMES.COM will always miss you...
