Another all time favourites in the MSV SPB combo added with PS's enthralling voice. One cannot find words to analyse, or describe, or whatever, you can just judge yourself by hearing the song. Every Sunday Madras A station of AIR will broadcast this song at 12.00 noon virumbikaettavai programme during 1969. I will run to my friend's or relative's house if there is no power supply, during that time.
The song: "Malligappoo vaangi vandhaen"
Film: Paalkudam
Singers: P.Suseela S.P.Balasubramaniam |

The following songs are listed to remind senior and expert fans for thorough analysis:
1. "Indha Nilavai Naan Paartthaal" - from the film Bhavani. One part by P. Suseela will be like a lullaby and in the same tune with fast beat, P.B.S. and L.R. Easwari, will give a romantic touch. Same song, same tune, different feel - is any other composer nearby to him?
|
Dear Ragavendran...
Wonderful pick, the very rare song 'இந்த நிலவை நான் பார்த்தால்' from Bhavani.
The same type song 'நினைத்தால் சிரிப்பு வரும்' from பாமா விஜயம். The tune will change in two different type.
Again in 'கட்டோடு குழலாட ஆட' from பெரிய இடத்துப் பெண்.
The song will go in one tune when PS & LRE sing the charanam
முதிராத நெல்லாட ஆட...ஆட
then it will turn to another (fast) tune, when TMS anna starts
தென்னை மரத்தோப்பாக.. தேவார பாட்டாக..
(raga specialists may analyse this)
MSV is a musical wonder.... _________________ Saradha Prakash |

Dear friends,
This song from Veettukku Oru Pillai is another masterpiece from MSV-SJanaki duo combined with Sadan's (if I am right) mimic for a child's voice. There is no words to express the beauty of this song. You can go on listen to it again and again and again and again .......... Listen SJ's charming voice when she renders the lines "azhugindra kuzhandaikku paal..." One of the best in the seventies and was a mega hit song and played repeatedly in Vivid bharathi. Released on Diwali day (18-10-1971), along with Baabu, Neerum Neruppum and Sakthi Leelai (which had music by T.K. Ramamurthi). Thus 1971 Diwali was dominated by Viswanathan-Ramamurthi.

Dear friends,
This is another masterpiece from MSV-SPB-BVasantha combo. This song is also from the film Veettukku Oru Pillai. There is an interesting anecdote for this song.
THIS SONG SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST SONG BY S.P.B. FOR NADIGAR THILAGAM SIVAJI GANESAN. This was recorded for the film SORKKAM and recorded along with Sollaadhae Yaarum Kaettaal. And this song featured on one side of the record and anothe side it was Sollaadhaey Yaarum Kaettaal. You can verify it if any body has that gramaphone record. It was played for about six months in Vivid Bharathi from around February-March to June-July 1970 and at the last moment when the shooting of Sorkkam was about to complete, this was dropped. Since Ramanna was the producer, he utilised this song in the film Veettukku Oru Pillai.
I like this song to the core exclusively for B.Vasantha's soul stirring humming and feel.

Dear Raghavendran,
Sakthi Leelai was released in 1972. Aathi Parasakthi was relased on 18-10-1971 (Deepavali) and was a silver jubilee hit. KVM scored the music for this film.

Jeev, you are correct. Sakthi Leelai was released next year only.
In that period there were too much 'Purana Films' dominated in Tamil.
Aadhi Parasakthi, Dhasavathaaram - by KVM
Agathiyar, Karaikal Ammaiyaar, Thirumalai Dheivam - by Kunnakudi
Sakthi Leelai - by T.K.Ramamoorthy
Ganga Gowri - by MSV
I think Shanker Ganesh too done music for a Purana Film (name not in memory), but they done a historical movie "Nayakkarin MagaL' for KSG. _________________ Saradha Prakash |

Dear Jeev & Saradha
You are correct. I mistook Adhiparaasakthi for Sakthi Leelai.
Thank you

Hi every one
I don't know if it is rare, but it is a gem. "Maan kanda Sorgangal" from "47 Naatkal". Describes the feelngs of a wife trapped in a bad marriage in a foreign country. Soulful and original tune sung with feelings by SPB. The tune and music are superb. You hear the song and feel the frustrations and tragic feelings of the wife. The violins and the drums capture every mood and nuance. I was recently meeting with a long lost friend who is married and lives in London, both being MSV afficianodos, she mentioned this song and said she listened to this often when she first moved to London 20 yrs back. She used to cry for the words "Indiya thai nattai ennugiral mangai, serthinda vaziyillai thembugiral endru, thai veetu theivangal thunayaga varadha eppodhu", you can still feel the emotions when you hear it now. MSV's music and fan base is global. |

Dear Friends,
This is another masterpiece from MSV, which proves that he is the real maestro in rhythm. Whoever has doubts let them immediately remove it. Listen to the superior beats and you will immediately start to tap your foot. Kaelvi Kaetkum Naeramalla idhu, Thaevai indha paavai ennum madhu, arimugam orey mugam endrey, aarambam aagattum poojaigal.... it goes on like that. Hardcore fans will praise me like anything for bringing this to their reminiscence. There is a story behind this song. This song sung by SPB and S Janaki, was supposed to have featured in the film Veettukku Oru Pillai but since they used "Indru Mudhal Selvamidhu", this was later used in Ramanna's next film Kulakkozhundhu.

Another surprising rare song, but a GEM; and I like it very much.
"Ayiram Kannukku Virundhagum Un Azhagukku oruvan thunai varuvan, Ooooohohohoho, Athu Naanalla, Athu Naanalla"--MGR and Jeyalalitha featuring in the song. Song comes in the film in two situations, one sung by TMS solo and the other sung by P.Susheela solo.
In spite of the presence of famous stars in the song, I dont know why the song is not as popular as many others.

Dear friends,
This is another remarkable melody from MSV, the voice of TMS and P Suseela will take you along with them. The rhythm of the song, is one of the highlights of this composition, and the voice would mingle like anything in your heart. The song is from the film "Chithra Pournami" with the pallavi "Senthura netri pottin thilagam" sung for Sivaji & Jayalalitha on screen.
For discussion.

Dear MSVs
There is another very good number in Chitra Pournami 'VANTHALUM VANTHANDI RAJA NEE VANDHA PINNE NANUM KOODA RAJA' by TMS.
All the songs in that film are note worthy.
