Hi folks

This song is dedicated to the MM, MSV, who is expected to undergo a bypass surgery... Lets wish together that he gets well soon... The MM
also believes and lives a life that is very similar to what is said in this song...

It is also apt for MGR's birthday... a song that portrays his "image"...
Surprising that the audio is not available on the net either... It would be great if someone who has the audio could share it.

It is also believed that this song took the longest amount of time to
picturise... I am not sure of the duration, but a long time nevertheless!!!

md: M.S.Viswanathan

This song would probably be high on the list of best songs written by KK... his word play is something that was inborn with the Kavignar...

The conversation before the song (added now) helps in identifying the "hidden" meaning....

enjoy.. : ))

Dear Andy,

Though we were knowing the hidden meaning already, thanks for reproducing it. By the way, you have mentioned the Voice as "PBS & PS". How can you forget TMS & Jamuna Rani? As you know, in the film it is sung by Sivaji-Devika (TMS-PS) & Balaji-Vasanthi (PBS-JR).

Come out with more please.

Luv,
Venu Soundar

Hi folks

Here's another master piece from the MM... I am not a "music buff" and I am sure I make a lot of mistakes with idenfying instruments etc.. but you can be sure that I am a great rasigan : )) I request as many to add more info as possible to mine... : ))

Presenting a song with 5 interlues and a perlude Smile

Prelude:
The song starts of with a "touch of" a bit from oru raaja raaNiyidam - with drums and trumpets, continuing with violins and ending with drums etc.. for about 20 seconds...

The background score has rhythm guitars with bongo's to back

PS:
ponnazhagup peNmai sinthum punnagai enna
oru manthiramO?
illai thanthiramO?
intha ulagam engaL azhagup peNgaL kai vasamO?

ponnazhagup peNmai sinthum punnagai enna
oru manthiramO?
illai thanthiramO?
intha ulagam engaL azhagup peNgaL kai vasamO?

Interlude 1:
Just as PS finishes with her "vasamO", the MM takes off on his own : )) with violins, organs, drums, guitars, accordians, a lovely flute bit for about 15 seconds... and then has his "touch" of variation with a key roll for about 3 seconds... to hand over to PS. The support score for the the next charanam is with tabla, dolak and a flute follow up..

PS:
mael naattin ezhil raaNi vizhi jaadaiyil
naadaaLum mudi vaenthan thadumaarinaan
mael naattin ezhil raaNi vizhi jaadaiyil
naadaaLum mudi vaenthan thadumaarinaan
paal pOndra pani paarvai paarththaenginaan
kaal meedhu thalai vaiththu kaLaippaarinaan

ponnazhagup peNmai sinthum punnagai enna
oru manthiramO?
illai thanthiramO?
intha ulagam engaL azhagup peNgaL kai vasamO?

Interlude 2 - the MM is on his trip again.. continuing from where he left off in the first interlude for another 15 seconds... and this time finishes with a flute bit to hand over to LRE

LRE:
ezhilae un nizhal kooda enai chaernthathu
nee vaeru naan vaeu yaar sonnathu
ezhilae un nizhal kooda enai chaernthathu
nee vaeru naan vaeu yaar sonnathu
PS:
pon vaenthan poo maeni en maeni thaan
en maeni ennaaLum un maeni thaan

LRE:
ponnazhagup peNmai sinthum punnagai enna
oru manthiramO?
illai thanthiramO?
intha ulagam engaL azhagup peNgaL kai vasamO?

Interlude 3 - Here the MM changes the tempo of the song to bring out the
theme of the song... the pace quickens and gets richer... and keyboard rolls... and violins join to add to the action of the song along with trumpets
for about 25 seconds
malaiyil thendral piranthadhu oruvarukkaagavaa?
ingae vaa.. anbae ingae vaa vaanam nilavai sumanthathu oruvarukkaagavaa?
ingae vaa.. anbae ingae vaa
maegam mazhaiyaip pozhinthaThu oruvarukkaagavaa?
ingae vaa.. anbae ingae vaa
iraivan azhagai koduththadhu oruvarukkaagavaa?
ingae vaa.. anbae ingae vaa
vaa vaa vaa..

Interlude 4 - continuing from the "vaa..." with trumpets and violins
with a lot of eerie effects - sounds of birds - whistles - flutes -
for about 18 seconds... the background score in the next charanam is only after the last word is sung - like and underscore for the lyrics... since it is the "judgement for the song" he had probably chosen to give the lyrics the "foreground"!!!

vadiththeduththa silaipOlae vadivudaiya paavai
thudithezhuntha iLamaiyudan thOndrugindra azhagai
nadu chabayil kadai viriththu nadamaadum pozhuthu
aduththavarai azhippathudan thaanum athu azhiyum

Interlude 5 - a note to bring things to order - violins mostly - followed
by sitars - and the tempo and score changes to a waltz... with violins
and a lone sitar to lead... with a "truce ending".... the background for the next charanam is with rhythm guitars to a waltz beat

peN ulagam perumai koLLum pon magaLae vaa
un azhaginilae
oru kuraivillaiyae
endrum achcham naaNam konjum peNmai vaazhiyavae

Cheers

enna engaiyO pOga vechchavar namma MM pa...

bhoomiyil iruppathum vaanaththil parappathum
avar izhuththa izhuppappa : ))

Naan ingu oru "paamara rasigan"... enakku "technical knowledge" kidaiyaathu.. but the beauty of the MM is that he relates to the bottom rung of the rasigars as well as the cream... with equal speciality... : )

BTW, could someone confirm the male voice in the song "pon azhagu"... it sounds a bit like Seergazhi Govindarajan.. but not too sure..

Cheers
