Dear friends,
I have missed seeing this thread and was aptly guided in by Mr. Ragasudha. Despite by inability to analyse songs the way our friends do, as an avid listener of MSV for decades, I feel these few lines may bring my observations on the selected items.
Anyone passing through teen harmones can not set aside LR E, as she has that ability to imbue the power of lust by the sheer timing of the syllable. She has, also the knack of drowning the listener into the belief that that the song has been rendered "for me" feeling. Innumerable numbers can be cited in support of this contention. In my humble understanding, there have been some numbers that only LR E can handle. Others may just try without the gripping influence of "viraga thaapam". As an artiste she went all out to freeze those moments. A thread on LRE may separately deal with her singing nuances.

The song from Nee - "Sonnalum sonnaradee, Ellorum Sonnaaradee" is an all time truth particularly in hindsight, with the later discovery of HIV as a global menace. A mere propogation of this song in all the hamlets of TN would have saved both cost outlay[of message-spreading] and the youth from the potential clutches of the draconian syndrome. Remember how MGR utilized movie numbers to drive home his ideologies since songs reach better and penetrate deeper.
The song from Idhu Sathiyam -"Manam kanivaana " has been deeply considered for the rendering beauties of TMS and PS. But, I take this opportunity to touch upon the luring beauty of the lyric. Of the varied stanzas, the following is a crisp summary of the whole mood.

ANNAM PONRA NADAIYINAI KANDU, MANNAR THAMMAI
MARANDHADHUM UNDU
Annam ponra nadaiyinaikandoooo Mannar thammai marandhadhum undoo-------TMS

AVAL IVAL THAANA. IVAL AVAL THAANAA, ADHAI THELIVAI
SOLLALAAMA?
Aval ival thaana ival aval thaana adhai thelivai solla laaaama---PS

THESE 4 LINES crystallise the crux of the situation and the MDs have embellished this number with their skillful setting of the variations in rendering each line. An immortal number indeed.

Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Navi Mumbai.
