Dear Friends,
By a sheer coincidence or by design, CVSridar has the reputation of dropping songs from movies even after they were recorded. In Kalyaana Parisu, he chose to drop a comedy song -"TEA TEA" probably as a time management strategy. There have been more such.
All of us aware of the song Nenjaththilae nee naetruvandhaai [Shanthi]. This song was originally done for Vennira Aadai. Somehow Sreidar did not relish this song .The lyricist and the MD BEING THE SAME FOR BOTH THE MOVIES, THEY CAME TO AN ALTERNATIVE UTILITY.For Vennira Aadai another piece "NEERAADUM KANGAL INGAE" WAS COMPOSED AND RECORDED. Again it was dropped from the movie.
Yet another instance was the song "Yarodum Paesakkoodathu" in Ooty varai uravu, dropped after the final recording. Thus, there are a few other instances from other Directors too. Most such dropped songs have been excellent numbers , sometimes better than some of those picturised.
For Ooty varai uravu "Thaedinaen Vandhadhu" around 52 diferent styles were suggested by MSV. But, Sridhar somehow did not concede acceptance. That particular song was posing a challenge to MD as to how to convince the director. At last MSV said to Sridhar "Annae ungalukku enna vaenum nu guess pannittaen. Ippa paarunga". Then MSV played the entire song On Pianao the way the I tune was set. Sridhar was nearly convinced but not 100%. MSV would never settle for less especially with certain people and CVS was one such. "Ippa Kaelunga " and he added those drum beats to the end of the first pallavi line and made it a very catchy piece. Then Kovai Chezhian [Producer] and CVS decided to have a rich saree for the artiste, and KVC in an interview told it was bought overnight from Bombay at a price 2000 Rs[ A lecturer pay then was Rs.400/- pm] So, KVC's claim on the expense was understandable. Now-a-days movie makers would go to Australia to shoot and reduce the outlay by stringent reduction of expense on costumes for women. Oh what a change in movie -making efforts.
Warm regards, Prof.K.Raman Navi Mumbai

TRUE
