Dear Mahesh,
Thanks for bringing this up.
One of my most favourite Musical albums!
Orchestral arrangements by MSV for all the songs and splendid voice by Maharajapuram Santhanam.... Yes, definitely it is something to be cherished for life.
Few years back myself and my dad tried to get the video of the whole programme. We called Maharajapuram's residence, but it was fruitless.
So if anyone has photos/videos or any articles with respect to this programme, please send that to me, to share with the rest of MSVClub!
A Matchless Musical Presentation! _________________ Ramkumar |

Dear Mahesh,
First of my heartfelt congratulations for bringing this rare real classy creation by two of the greatest musical phenomenons - Shri. Shri. MSV & Shri. Shri. Maharajapuram Santhanam. The album would speak volumes for generations to come as no one ever had the imagination (leave alone the guts) that two giants from totally two different poles would join and create and deliver a musical feast like Sangamam. Very aptly titled, it is nothing but the Sangamam of greatest musical minds. On 27th January 2008 when MSV visited my house to Bless me on my Birthday (25th Dec 1962), there was a specific discussion about this album. Though some of our friends from this elite club were also there (to whom I kept MSV's visit to my house that evening, a closely guarded secret!!!) that day, happened to watch this programme live, I was one of those unfortunate ones who hadn't watched.
Shri.Shri. MSV went on to narrate the following in his own words.
"Enna vandhu intha madhiri oru novalty ya album seiyanum sonnavodaney enakku orey bayama pochu, yenna, Maharajapuram Santhanam oru periya Medhai. Appuram naanga decide panni seithu mudithathum, cassette anuppi avarai ketka sonnom. MS avargal, ennai koopittu, enna MSV naan intha programmela oru edathil ennai maranthu ungalai paaratti iruppen, antha edam ippo ketka mudiyailey, yen edit seithu vittteergala? Naan ithai satrum ethirpaarkavillay, aagaiyal naan sonnen, sir enakku konjam koochama irunthathu athan..... MSV, neengal intha edathai edit seiyaamal appadiyey release seithal than achu endraram...." What happened later is HISTORY IN THE ANNALS OF CLASSICAL & LIGHT MUSIC.
We were all absolutely stunned by the sheer reverence, respect & admiration they had between them. These are rare classic examples of how musicians interacted with each other, how there was a great healthy competition and there was no jealousy at all.
MSV TIMES.COM SALUTES THESE TWO GREATEST LEGENDS OF INDIAN MUSIC AND OUR PRANAAMS TO THIS GREATEST DEPARTED SOUL SHRI.SHRI. MAHARAJAPURAM SANTHANAM.
CHEERS
MSV - MS, THE ULTIMATE OF MUSICAL SANGAMAM!!!

Dear Mr.Ram and Mr.Vaidy,
Thanks for the response. I am very glad in seeing your replies.
Antha naal (29-Dec-1991) yen life-la oru maraka mudiyatha naal.
Antha program-ku ticket kidaichathe oru luck.
Ippadi oru website parthen (Some individual's blogger):
http://ideasandviews.blogspot.com/2005/12/passion-for-fusion.html
In that, intha mathiri romba azhaga maniana varigalal...
then came 'Sangamam' of maharajapuram santhanam and m.s.viswanathan. the songs rendered were untainted carnatic krithis on an apt background of MSV's orchestral talents. needless to say, we have not heard anything like this before. when the fusion comes from two rich musical minds, the outcome is nothing but a masterpiece.
two rich musical minds - wow... varevaa...
I have only the audio casettes (two volumes) of that program.
Intha mathiri oru isai vizhavai kanbatharithu...
Thanks once again... _________________ Meendum Santhippom Viraivil...
