Dear Music lovers,

We all know several films were made in Hindi and Tamil and MSV was associated in many of them For example. Name given in bracket is the composer for Hindi films

1. Kaadalikka neramillai ( Laxmikanth Pyerelal ) Pyar kiya ja
2. Sivandha man ( Shankar-Jaikishan ) Dharthi
3. Nenjil oru alayam -do-
4. Sarvar sundaram -do- Main sundar Hoon
5. Enga Mama -do- Brhmachari
6. Kuzhandiyum deivamum Ravi Do kaliya

The list goes on.

If one had listened to the songs of HIndi remakes he will conclude
that MSV compositions were better and proved more hits than the hindi.

At the same time it is not to belittle the work of Laxmikanth Pyerelal, Ravi or Shankar Jaikishan who were all great music directors.

What I would like to emphasise here is that the comparison of music in these films drives home a point that by excelling in the tamil version MSV earned one more feather on his crowded hat.

Some more...
Naalai Namadhe (Yadonki Baaraath)
Sivagamiyin Selvan (Aaradhana)
Thee (Deewar)
Billa (Don)
I like Naalai Namathe songs more
Billa and Thee were excellent re-recording. This proved that MSV can also score for Action movies...

Movies of KB
Maro Charitra (Ek Duje Ke Liye)
Thillu Mullu (Gol Maal)
Apprva Ragangal
Aval Oru Thodarkadhai
Varumayin Niram Sivappu

If you notice all the KB movies, only tamil movie songs and rerecoding will be great...

Paalum Pazhamum
Naushad quoted this as tamil songs were spellbound

Hi,

There are some other movies made first in Hindi and then re-made in Tamil for which MSV had composed tunes

1. China Town (Shammi Kapoor starrer in which the best known song was
Baar Baar Dekho of Rafi) remade into "Kudiyirunda Kovil" (all songs were super duper hits, MSV simply outshone Ravi of the original and Baar Baar Dekho was re-made as "Ennai Theriyuma")

2. Phool Aur Patthar (starring Dharmendra and Meena Kumari, produced by her husband OP Ralhan) was remade in Tamil as "Oli Vilakku" (MSV gave some hit songs though the original too set to music by Ravi (if I am not mistaken) had a few good songs.

3. Ram Aur Shyam (Dilip Kumar starrer which was remade from the Telugu and Tamil films Enga Veettu Pillai) - VR outshone Naushad ten to one easily. Similar was the case with another DK starrer Aadmi (original Tamil Aaalayamani, again VR outclassed MSV's manaseega guru Naushad)

4. Apna Desh (original was Nam Naadu, MSV's tunes were better than RD Burman's who gave one super duper hit - Duniya me tarataratara)

Paalum Pazhamum was also remade in Hindi which was scored by Naushad. His comment on tamil version is "Spellbound Music".

The hindi version of Bama Vijayam, I think Teen Bahuraniyan (I don't know which one is first).
Tamil version is obviously the best...

Hindi version of Paalum Pazhalum was "Saathi" directed by Sridhar.

Bama Vijayam's Hindi version was " Teen Bahuraniyan".
