Dear Friends,
This is a very interesting subject. It is only MSV who managed to give many different situations involving the subject ‘Laughter’.

The song ‘Sirippu Varudhu Sirippu Varudhu Sirikka Sirikka Sirippu Varudhu’ is a unique song describing about the state of affairs about different peoples attitudes. We have to appreciate the director’s idea of presenting the song through the comedian character but utilizing the situation to give advice to the general public. Through the entire song MSV maintained the laughter of the comedian singer.

The other song ‘Sirithu Vazha Vendum’ is also an advisory song but the advice is for the children. The lyrics are very good as it says ‘sirithu vazha vendum silar sirikka vazhndhidadhe’. Through out the song again MSV maintained the ‘Laughter’ of the children most of them south Asian origin. MSV was asked in an interview about how he managed get the children laugh in the recording. MSV said that it was not the children but their music troop mimicry artist like M S Raju, Sadan, Murugesh who made the laughter effects.

The other song involving the laughter is the song ‘Ange sirippavargal sirikkattum adhu aanava sirippu’. This is a song describing the laughter of good character and evil character. Again through out the song MSV maintained a different laughter of the villain.

The song ‘Sirippil undaagum ragathile’ is very different as MSV decoded the laughter in to ‘swarams’. The inspiration for that would have come from the first line ‘Sirripil undaagum ragathile’ or this idea of decoding the swarams of laughter would have prompted the lyrics.

The song ‘Jinu jinakkang chinnakili sirikkum pachaikili’ is of mixes emotions. Here the character does a stage play in which he makes the audience laugh but within himself feels very sad as he lost his sister. Here the laughter is brought out through out the audience.

Almost similar situation of mixed emotions is in the song ‘kinkinni kinkini kini kiniena varum madha koyil maniyosai’. The way MSV changes the mood for the sober lines is very touching. Again the laughter in this case is brought out through the children who assembled for the Christmas celebration.

The song ‘Kulingi kulungi sirikkum sirippil eval oru pappa’ is brilliant especially in the way MSV kept the style and the tempo of the pallavi. The laughter in this case is brought out by the ladies.

There could be many songs which involve the word ‘sirippu’ in the lyrics like ‘sirithaal thaga padumai’ but this subject is about the laughter and there has to be some laughter effects.

Again there are some songs that have laughter effect but the subject is not about laughter and hence I am not including in this subject. Example is the song ‘Varaai en thozhi vaarayoo’ in which there is laughter effects are brought out by the ladies in the marriage situation.

So within this parameter please add if there are more songs.

Regards,

N Y MURALI

Dear Mr.Murali,
A unique topic; effortlessly brought out by our MM in his many songs in many moods.

Interestingly, the song of Chandra babu was quite a struggle for him and MM literally taught him to 'laugh' the way it has been recorded!! The song 'kulungi kulungi' has the rolling laughter of Savitri. In both the above-mentioned songs, the laughter sequences have been so rhythmically filled in, in harmony with the beats of the respective songs. What an imagination!
