Dear MSV club members,

One of our Core Crew Members Mr. Sabesan has a fabulous collection of rare MSV collection on LPs & Eps. What we dont have is turn table to convert them into CDs. As of now no one in Chennai is doing it. This specific request goes to all members to find out and let us know if a Turn Table could be arranged. The player may preferably play 78 rpm records also. Please act at the earliest.

Cheers
Vaidy

I came across this thread only now. Was a player available? It should be of high quality (preferably direct drive), and with a good mono cartridge. But stay away from ceramic (or crystal) cartridges. The current CDs available in the market are remastered poorly so this is definitely a good idea. The ADC should be 20 bit or better.

Does anyone know whether the original 8 track recordings still exist? If so, it should be possible to remaster them in stereo.

HI FELLOW MSV FANS

i have been dreaming of a programme , i think all of us to join together to Facilitate our master ( nothing short of kanakabhisekam ) for the service he has been doing) oor koodi thear izhuppom ,
my suggestion is we should have couple of days or 3 days musical programmes , only with his songs , may be one by shankar ganesh , one by gangai amaran , and the final one will be the master himself.

and he will do the programme , as listeners choice (probably the ticket will have post card , to mention their request ) and top 20 songs will be played by master . with no electronic gadgets , as it was originally done

this way the younger generation can come to know , how those dys , singers struggled to get on to the pedestal , what they occupy now (with out any lift of course fr easier and quicker reach )

would appreciate yr valuable thinking on this front

warm regards

hi

thanks . i always feel , that the master is not getting what he deserves , while i donot envy the other music directors , who has media glares .spot lights
Msv , is so innocent , not knowing how to project himself . and we will fail in our duty if we donot honour him now .

The younger generation , who avoids , seeing black and white movies . minimises , their chances of listenig to the great melodies, thus our masters greatness , not all know , unless , they have a parent , who loves old film songs and a radio listener
its our duty , to project his greatness , the way this generation can take ,thus Msv , kaviarassu achievements , go to next generation too

Msv times is the first step towards that , and we will go in to the next step ,
after getting feed backs from , all our members to start with .

enjoy good music (,thus MSVs music)
vk.

Hei everyone there,

it is 100percent right as u have opined..our master has not been honoured
enough [like CHO has expressed in NDTV] and because of his innocence
and plaintlking he has not been taken seriously..
this forum should collect signatures and represent to someone at the top
to recommend any National Award by the Govt.of India..this only will showcase his huge contribution in emotionalmusic - fusion music, experiments
he has done..time is running out..this shd be done in his LIFETIME please..

hai ram

can i have more info on what CHO had told about the MASTER .
it would help , those who have not heard what Cho had said .

Your suggestion is appreciated , as when MR MK , is in helm of affairs , its much easier .
LET US NOT FORGET , EVEN TEMPLES , POOKADAI , NEEDS LITTLE ADVT , AND NOTHING WRONG , TO PUSH FOR THE DESERVED TO GET

It would only make any award meaningful .

Dear moderators - let us start ......

dear vk,

For any composer to have scored more than 33,000 songs in 5 languages
and seperate experimental albums numbering 21,devotionals and 41miscellaneous [incl.probaganda albums] whose composition is only accepted for Tamizh thai vazhthu and who performed for the army jubilation
in the indo-china war of 1965 at the border and the Republic Day of 2001@
new Delhi with SPB and many more inimtable acheivements as Naushad and
RD.Burman on different ocassions said..even a DOCTORATE/PADMABUSHAN
is eluding..just because he is devout to a regional language most of the time..
[acheivement list taken from VAMANAN`s `mellisai mannar Pattu Payanam'
a hue 400 page contribution on our Maestro[2004ed.]
we should represent to the state Govt.as a forum to do the needful.
coming to CHO,he has several times on stage[vikadan`s commemoration
if MSV-TKR FUO LAST YEAR,very recently over NDTV when giving opinion abt the movie sivaji..he has vociferously mentioned MSV as the greatest
composer in India but litle known north of vindiyas just because he confined to TAMIL compositions mostly.

hi ram
yes i do agree .
padmabhushan is the least , but i think , we can aim for phalke award
doctorate - he has already got through sathyabhama university .
its really pathetic , while he deserves , an award instituted in his own name fr the best achievements in film music , we are discussing on him , getting an award .

his drawbacks , are he belongs to south +he is innocent , and the Fildom , only used him , but failed , to fight for the recognistion , he deserves , though , this state has been ruled by Film personalities , that too , those who sold their films , with his music..

let us join in the campaign , and get all top politicians , like mk , jj ,and ramdoss ( probably , he would readily fight with the present mood + just now , he invited MSV , for a CD release .\

Dear All
I notice genuine concern from MSV fans who lament over the long eluding honour to this colossus of Indian music. That he is confined to South is a peripheral argument .All the leading composers -Naushad ,Burmans, Nayyar and Shehnoy wizard Bismillah khan have recognized his worth at least by oral appreciation on more than one occasion. What has gone wrong is the absence of a godfather for MSV.Quite a number of Carnatic musicians have won NATIONAL AWARDS [SO LANGUAGE IS NO BARRIER] Honesty to project his case has been conspicuous by absence. Before time runs out, some efforts to muster support from the present TN government must be done as it is a safe chanel to approach. At another level such pure personalities like Cho may be requested to use their good offices with media and fora like Rajya Sabha to augment total support and to neutralize any scope of political overtones. It would not be a bad idea to seek the advice of former Presidents RV and APJ AK as to the modalities and protocols to be followed.Other specific approaches may be considered like mustering the support of Kerala government since MSV holds stature in Malayalam field as well. A multipronged, quick and genuine effort will help this noble cause. I trust the line of thought desrves consideration.

100% right. A deserving person for getting the "DadaSaheb Phalke Award". But when would that happen? Even for Shivaji, it was a long wait and he had to get it after Nageshwara Rao and Rajkumar got. At one stage, Cho, after so much of frustration seeing with expectation year after year, had written in his journal that Shivaji should not receive the award if they are going to give him in future, ... . (It's a different issue that after some time when his name was announced for the award Cho wished that Shivaji should add grace to the award by receiving it.) And now this neglect is happening for MSV. We are failing to recognise the yester-year talents.
And it was a sad sight to see our TMS being seated one among the crowd, during a function of Inauguration of Shivaji statue by Karunanidhi. He was the voice of Shivaji in the songs and probably could have even inspired Shivaji for his performances in the songs. Though MSV, TMS are all well recognised and loved by the masses, awards dont come their way and things have to be corrected.
