Dear Members, When I was about nine years of age MSV/TKR were composing for the film "Pathi Bakthi". I still remember the Tune of the pupal stage of the song "Veedu Nokki Odi Vandha". By the time they had practiced and improvised it for a few weeks more it had attained the final stage which we heard in the theater with all the instruments. The composing and rehearsal work was done in a house diagonally opposite mine, Where a Parsi sound engineer was staying and I used to call him 'uncle'.[Name withheld]. Years later while studying I acquired a Guitar and learn t a few chords from a neighbor [Books and teachers were nearly unavailable].Till such time I did not know what was pulling me to MSV/TKR songs. After qualifying and getting a job I was able to buy some books and learnt the theory of chords and then it hit me like a thunderbolt. Their song's "hamonic progressions" was different and went along with the flood of western songs now filling the air. Later when I got exposed to Carnatic music I was again amazed to see that they had not sacrificed, the nuances although this point may be contested. I picked up enough about the chords and the strumming styles only by listening to their songs. Like any amateur I was inquiring about the guitarist.accordionists and drummer and others from friends. I never did meet them except the guitarist. I hope some one could write in detail about the team who were blessed to work with him. When I did meet MSV Sir recently I was still in a state of ecstasy that I could not ask most of the questions I had listed to be asked before he gave audience. The final shock ,nearly a Sunami. In response to my praise for his music he simply said "it is God's gift" and added" we were lucky to have an old man who graced the" studios and gave us help when we required." I was taken aback by his humbleness did not ask who it was. I have NEVER seen a GENIUS so GREAT and is greater because of his simplicity. I can only dream that he will pass on the ingredients to some deserving MD S of this generation. If the present consumers dont know this and dont need it, I think it is THE END of the W...

Dear Sir,
You hit three centuries in three posts...
Great...
I was very much delighted after reading this...

How can a person who started his career in early 1950s with Genova, Panam etc., can score music for a film to be relased now this year... (Vaaliban Sutrum Ulagam)...
Whether its
Bheemsingh's "Pa" varisai padangal
Sridhar's "Nenjam"...
ACThirulokachander - Anbe vaa
P.Madhavan - Neela vaanam
K.B. - Bama vijayam, Naan Avan Illai, Ninithale Inikkum, Thillu Mullu...

A MD spanning over 5 decads... wow...
No other MD in India or through out the world could have done this...

Not only that
Recently I attended the function of Sangeetha Saraswathi Award presented to Shri.MSV (on 25-Jun-2008).
(Co)incidentally on 24-Jun-2008, our Mellisai Mannar turned 80.
He has composed 9 songs in a single day for that program...

Avarai meet pannumbothu I thought of asking him lot of questions and wishing him...
But after seeing him I didn't have any words...
But I could managed to take a photograph of him with my mobile, get an autograph from him (vaazhkaiyile marakka mudyatha naal)...
neenga sonna mathiri "in a state of ecstasy"...
My experience and feelings solli mudiyathu...

Though I do not know music, I can enjoy the music of MSV and Visu-Ramu. The instrmentation, orchestration will be special in their songs...

The BGM will very much fit into the situation of the songs...
The emotional intelligence will be very rich...
Thats the reason why I was very much attracted towards MSVs music.

A very great writeup sir...

Very eager to read more of your posts...
keep posting...
