Dear friends,
In the present scenario, it is widely claimed that Ilaiyaraaja is the best in bgm. I dont want to dwelve into its merits (?) and/or demerits. But can any one equal mms score in any single scene?
For e.g. take Gauravam.
Rajnikanth is attending a case challenged by his foster son cum nephew, Kannan. His challenges moves Rajnikanth and he takes it seriously. While explaining to his wife, he narrates how he conquered such great heights. He takes files from the cabinet and describes them one by one. For a normal music director, he would have just given some music say violins, drums, or something like that. And definitely such a dramatic scene would have suffered. See how music plays an important part, particularly the background score. See the difference between others and MM. He plays the piano (I am not sure, but it sounds like one) for each and every file. The first file is put down and chords raise. The second file is put down and there is another rise in the octave. The third file and the octave goes higher. And the fourth one and the octative even more higher. This symbolises the narration by Rajnikanth to say that he grew step by step. For each step he puts a file (symbolic), and for each file, MSV rises the octave. If you happen to see this scene or film in VCD or DVD or satellite channel, observe the bgm for this scene.
You will agree that Nadigar Thilagam is unparalleled in acting and Mellisai Thilagam is unparalleled in music.
And our joy are unparalleled that we lived with them.
Raghavendran.

Dear Mr.Raghavendran,
Great write up.
Another movie comes to my mind.
The title music in the movie "Dr.Siva" will be very nice.
