Another bouquet of fragrant flowers from Viswanathan-Ramamurthy, with enchanting melodies.
'Naan paadiya paattai manavan kettaan' may claim the trophy. But Aaththoram manal eduththu, azhagaana malaiyaalam, aadak kaanbhadhu kaaviri vellam, nenjaththil iruppadhu ena enna and azhagu rasippatharkke are all close contestants.

All these songs invoke a feeling of nostalgia in me. Especially 'aaththoram manal eduththu makes me yearn for the childhood I have lost.

Here is the link. I won't say enjoy. Feel these songs!

Hi,

Am posting in this forum after ages. As Mr Parthavi said "Naan Paadiya Padal Mannavan Kettan" is an extraordinary one and the stanzas are not repeated at all. What a no!

And Mr Parthavi as you said the song "Athoram Manaleduthu" reminds you of your childhood. The same here. It used to be played regularly, both the versions, on Radio Ceylon. Sweet nostalgia!

Dear Rengaswami sir,
It does evoke a mysterious sense of longing when we listen this PS-PBS song. This is highlighted by the subtle change of the tone in the santoor, right at the start and throughout. The echo to beat this with the special effects in the background. A very nice song.

Dear Friends,
Yes, "vAzhkkai vAzh vadharkkE" was one of the very early signatures of MSV in TFM. I choose to call it signature for more than one reason. After decades of incessant listening to MSV compositions, all of us have unanimous appreciation for the legend.
These include
MSV's penchant for genuine effort irrespective of the banner
Infusing star status to any movie through songs /BGM
He goes by the dictates of the situation
Never forces the use of instruments for the sake of tall claims Registers the class of his musical wizardry in each situaion.
His devotion to work stuns even his adversaries.
Has been the wholesome MD that one can aspire for.

How else can one explain his work in "vAzhkkai vAzhvadharkkE" -a movie that did not carry the ingredients to cause any euphoria? Yet, MSV has lived up to the best of needs and challenges all his life. No wonder his songs stay ethereal and everlasting while most other 'pampered numbers' have duly fallen by the wayside. A respectable legend indeed he is.
THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY.

Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai.

Dear Mr. Baskar,

I find your current entry as the 4th. I am slightly confused since we have Mr Baskar CS on our forum with 203 postings to his credit. If the 'new' CS Baskar is different from the one already known, may I request to the new member to make an introduction of self? To me both appeal to be one and the same, especially the way the name is spelt, the initials and above all the 'writing style' that has a unique abruptness. Please clarify before others get confused too.
Warm regards Prof. Madurai.
