Another gem of bgm from MM. Umpteen times appreciations have been made of Thanga Padhakkam songs. But this melodrama has got its life thanks to Mellisai Thilagam. Throughout the film, in almost all the emotional scenes, Mellisai Thilagam has simply takes your soul with him. The theme music would resemble you the later recorded song Manmadha Leelai (sung by SPB). Whenever there is a scene that reaches its peak in drama, Mellisai Thilagam makes you involve complely with his bgm. Sometimes it is violin, sometimes it saxophone or some other wind instrument, he uses wind as well as string instruments for the same theme music but for different moods. When Choudhry's wife and daughter-in-law are angry on him, refuse to eat and tell him, "oru nalaikku sappidalenna uyira poyidum", Choudhry keeps his calm, justifies his position and shows his affection on his son. When they two repent and come to lunch, he simply says the same dialogue. Watch Mellisai Thilagam's bgm score in this scene.
Simply great.
