Dear Friends,
Among the trend setting aspects of the period under study, the comedy sequences of " K N " were significantly of sophistication, with subtle body language adding to the viewing impact.
A number of such sequences can be recalled.
When Nagesh happens to meet Muthuraman in old man's attire and half-greying beard, Nagesh quips Spontaneously 'vEshapporuththam pramAdham" with some movie character in mind; MR in the course of his guilty role lets out a worried look through the thick glass- a fleeting expression without a word of reply.
When MR keeps boasting of his aristocracy, he tells Baliah of procuring an elephant for showing to his son, the innocent Baliah, folding his right fist, loops his right index finger much like an elephant trunk in assertion of his keen following of Muthuraman. Also. he heaves heavily and expresses awe by his whisper 'arasa prambarai, arasa parambarai' twice of the riches of MR.
When MR speaks over phone to his dad, Baliah standing by lets off peels of laughter just to acknowledge MR's line of conversation and finally asks MR as to why Muthu was laughing; MR replies there was some comic utterance from the other side, upon which Baliah squeals 'hAsyamA sonnArA?' and sheepishly continues 'hi hi hi hi hi hi' with no provocation for a laughter.
In a situation when Nagesh tries priority to meet MR, Ravichandran in the guest house, Baliah curbs the effort and drives away Nagesh by asking his son if he has seen Madras; Nagesh merely lifts his left hand above elbow and vibrates the left palm and fingers in a play of tinsel-like movements suggesting the play of lamps across the city.
When Nagesh tries to win the confidence of MR for financing the film, he [Nagesh] forces them to see the dance by Sachu; though in old man's attire, Muthu, visibly enjoys the dance with arched eyebrow and eyeballs jetting while he rocks his body left right up and down in symmetry to the beat in a portrayal of old age by a young man.
On an occasion MR tries to avoid Baliah's accompanying him to Madras by persuading him telling that you are my 'sambandhi' [ Baliah -adhAnE adhAnE'] 'Why do you go cheap'[ Baliah-adhAnE adhAnE'] and B keeps replying MR's suggestion.
There are innumerable such spots where body language was employed to the most telling effect as a new trend in conversation throughout the movie.
Others may please add your observations.

Dear Mr.Baskar,
The scene you are referring to is not a song sequence. It is actually prior to Baliah putting MR and Ravichandran in guest house, where Nagesh has asked the MD to compose songs for the proposed movie of his. The MD in the scene [with a cap on] is Shankar [Ganesh] introduced as Krishnagiri Kittappa to M R on his arrival.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai. _________________ Prof. K. Raman
