Friends,
I made a posting in the youtube which I am reproducing here. I also give the link for the youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Q55nVGOofo

The posting is reproduced here.

The lyrics are ‘andhadhi’ style. The word ending in the 1st line is the starting for the 2nd. Andham means end and adhi means beginning.
1st line ‘vasantha kala nadhigalile vairamini neeralaigal’ and the next line starts with ‘neeralaigal’ and it goes on like this from pallavi to charanam and continues even at Rajni’s portion and finally line starts with the beginning word that is ‘vasantha kala’
This is Kannadasan’s gift to us

MSV did an equal fitting work in this song. Like the lyrics(andhadhi) which is a relay of words he set the musical notes in the relay of notes.
In the pallavi
1st line starts with the note ‘pa’ (panchamam) and ends with ‘sa’(satjamam)
2nd line starts ‘sa’ and ends with ‘sa’
3rd line ‘sa’ and ends ‘pa’
4th line ‘pa’ and ends ‘sa’
Now charanam
1st line starts ‘sa’ and ends ‘pa’
2nd line strats ‘pa’ and ends ‘sa’

Now a trap. In Rajini’s portion the tune being same as charanams must end with ‘sa’. That means the song starts with ‘pa’ ends with ‘sa’. The lyrics pattern is same ‘vasantha kala’ for starting and ending line. So MSV ly altered the tune and ends the song with ‘pa’ and not ‘sa’ as in other charanam. The whole song starts from ‘pa’ and ends with ‘pa’ a perfect ‘andhadhi’ in musical terms also.
MSV is humble he never told this. Other MD’s would have proclaimed as if they were the god of music.

Hi Murali,

Astounding revelations of a super melodious song. As you have pointed out, Shri. Shri. MSV wouldn't have gone to Budapest, London or to any exotic locations around the globe to create a master melody of this sort. All he would have done is to humbly sit at home or the studio and let his imaginations unleash........bang........the melody is delivered.

I am sure the credit must go to both the classy geniuses of this world......Kavithai Medhai. Kannadasan & Shri. MSV for their spontaneity in lyrics & music.

What a combo of magical minds!!!!! Absolutely hair raising indeed!!!

Cheers
MSV IS MUSIC!!!

dear friends

Unforgettable melody , in anthathi format . not to forget a great finish to this melody by MSV himself , and a villain was born in rajini

The same film has another great melody , from the same team msv-kd-vani and pj - AADI VELLI THEDI UNNAI NAAN ADAITH ANERAM THERE ALSO YOU CAN enjoy anthathi format - if i remember the song right ,.

many will call 1960-70 as golden period , but to me it continued through MSV KD KB Sridhar MGR till late 70s .

Dear Murali,

Thanks for the interesting analysis of the "Moonru Mudichu" song. MSV has created many such magics silently. He is so simple and humble that he never talks about his own achievements and says he is still to learn many things. What a genius?

What annoys us is that whenever an MSV number is sung in a singing competition, the so called judges who hardly knows MSV's music, the intricacies of his compositons or achievements, will just say "good song and how superbly the singer has sung it" and will never make a mention of MSV and the greatness of his composition. This happened recently in Super Singer too when a boy sang "Ullathil Nalla Ullam", when every one was in tears and no one cared to give credit to MSV for the amazing composition.

At the same time, if some one comes out even with an ordinary Ilayaraja number, the judges will immediately say "how beautifully Raja Sir has composed it, only Raja Sir can do this", etc. Agreed, Ilayaraja is also a great MD. But, we cannot remain silent when the legend MSV is not given due credit for his greatness and achievements.

At least it was satisfying to hear Ilayaraja saying "நான் உண்ணும் உணவு அவர் போட்ட பிச்சை, அவர் துப்பிய எச்சில்" referring to MSV, in the recently held Jaya TV felicitation.

Regards,
Venu Soundar

Dear Mr. Venu,
Very true. The world at large barring a few is yet to understand the genius of MSV.

A brilliant analysis NYM Sir ! The real beauty of the song is the way the tune has been made and the following lyrics . Aadi velli comes first before this . We also need to find out which was composed first . MSV's creations are joyful wonders. See how musically he had arranged the tune in line with the lyrics. Dont know whether this is ' Matter ' first or ' Meter ' first Smile

Wish to know the other one ....Aadi velli also follows the same pattern.

Tks a lot for giving a new dimension to this song .

Rajini, during his speech on 28th Aug recollected that MSV only gave voice for his first song...Manavinaigal yaarudano !

This was said by one of the members of the orchestra. Even he didn't mention MSV's name. Perhaps, he expected someone else would do that. But there was no response to his observation from the highly knowledgeable musicians present there!

My statement of the judges in singing competitions not acknowledging the greatness of MSV's compositions and not giving him the due credit, was again proved yesterday in the Super Singer Junior prog on Vijay TV.

One boy, Raja Ganapathy, superbly sang the outstanding number "Neeye Unakku Enrum Nigaranavan" from Baley Pandiya. While all the judges (5 of them in all) were of high praise for the boy's singing, none of them cared to make a mention of the greatness of the composition and give any credit to the genius MSV. I am sure, except for Mr Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy the others would not have even known which film the song was from and who was the composer. திருந்தவே மாட்டார்கள். என்னே இவர்களின் இசை அறிவு மற்றும் தொண்டு? எங்கே போய் முட்டிக் கொள்வது?
