Dear Friends,
While MSV's inserts of voice chorus and enthusiastic humming at right spots through a song are items for detailed study, there are other innovations, APT TO BE HONOURED as Innovation by Improvisations.
Yes, these have been of a magnitude not conceivable by many MDs. On occasions involving specific additives, MSV has had the services of the very best personnel on them.
Typical horse hoof rhythm in 'rAjAvin pArvai rANiyin pakkom' from "anbE vA" is a case in point. Even as the song opens on lyric less voice of female hum, there is an abrupt pushing in of strings and horse hoof rhythm setting the mood gently amplified by the legendary MSV brand Accordion.

In fact, the instant appeal that this song generated to a point of anticipatory euphoria for ''anbE vA'' as a song ambassador, cannot just be explained.

The possessive grip of the 'horse hoof rhythm' in this song has not been matched by any other song for a comparable movie sequence involving horse[s].

The only other song where the strategy had been applied to professional standards was of course the predecessor number by MSV-TKR through
'nilavukkum malarukkum jAdhi illai' from "nenjam marappadhillai".
The point here is that MSV chooses to employ a strategy only if the situation warrants it on a large scale.

As I had earlier written [some 4 years ago], a wider and a relatively narrow bamboo pieces tapped alternately on a flat hard surface brings off the hoof sound. Credit must be acknowledged to Mr. "meesai" Murugesh.
Even more credit should go to MSV who tapped Murugesh's skills for tapping the bamboo stubs in a manner befitting the song tune and flow.

Being the most articulate of MDs, MSV has also adopted the 'thus far and no farther' regulation to stop bamboo strokes after the early segments and again bringing those at the winding phase [as it was a dream song].

There have been several of those improvisations that have been apt and timely revealing the 'music-soaked ' mind of Shri.M.S.Viswanathan.
Wait for more on the topic in the days ahead .
Warm regards
K. Raman Madurai.
