Dear Friends,
We are into the labyrinth of verbal vicissitude spun out by kaNNadAsan for firmly entrenching the hero as 'sumai thAngi'.That the hero is all set for renunciation has been brilliantly laid out through this lyric.

The lyric is simultaneously subtle touching upon the hero's frame of mind, while the expressions are vivid. Except for such greats as kaNNadAsan, it is a task to be vivid and subtle.
Pallavi has been subtle as 'manidhan enbavan' -a reference to the clan itself; MSV makes it vivid by reiteration of at least twice or more while singing. The import of mood has been fortified by a sarcastic laughter cum hum by PBS at the end of the opening pallavi line with hm hmh hm hm, in a DISPLAY OF DEJECTION driving him to renunciation. At the very point in the song MSV reveals - Sridhar and kaNNadAsan the architects of the critical movie point. Ordinary minds cannot work such wonders. Look at how MSV HAS IMBIBED KaNNadAsan in his blood and breath as to spin a musical web around the lyrical frame.

As for the poet: he has used terms 'uLLam' and 'manam' in the first two charaNams while in the third he summarizes the whole idea of succinct value through 'guNam'- the character.

'uLLam' and 'manam' are medically/ biologically unidentifiable as structures but unquestionable for their existence.

'guNam ' is certainly the manifestation of what one has gathered for self as 'value'. Unless 'ullam' is broad, 'manam' is tender the character 'guNam' can never be positive to the point subjecting self to suffering by accommodation.

What does he say through his lyric?

VaLLal aagalam, thyAgi aagalAm, 'OLiyai veesalAm' all by sacrifice
'manam manam ' adhu koil aagalAm as the winding phrase -charaNam I

'paravaikkoottil mAngaL vAzhalAm' , kadugukkuLLE malaiyai kANalAm'
'thuNIndhu vittAl thalaiyil endha sumaiyum thAngalAm'
- suggestions seemingly hard except by will and determination -the products of mind or 'uLLam'. To wind he says 'guNam guNam adhu koil aagalAm'.

Despite the repertoire that kavi arasu is known for, he has confined himself to the term 'koil' which he obviously reckons as the most sanctified place free of filth, rubbish and ego. Indirectly he suggests that attaining the best through character is being close to GOD. An AMAZING display of mental vibration rendered in an articulate play of vivid subtlety in terms.

In the process kavi arasu has shown that
manidhan enbavan dheivamAgalAm.

Please wait for more on this song.

Warm regards K.Raman Madurai.
