I happened to watch the 'Thullaadha Manamum Thullum' program of Pothikai retelecast Monday afternoon (3rd March, 2014) towards the end. This particular episode had songs played on instruments. When I switched on to the channel, one song played on flute by Raghu had just ended (I don't recall the song). This was followed by a brief interview of S.Nathan (Sakthinathan), a well known Saxaphone player skilled in laying flute also. A couple of years back he conducted a music program in Kamarajar Arangam featuring only MSV's compositions, playing them on the saxaphone and the flute. This was the first performance of his music group and being a great admirer of MSV, he had thought it fit to perform exclusively MSV's songs in his first concert. It was a wonderful program. Recently, Mr. Vaidhy also cited this program as an example of a program with perfect orchestration. Another member has also recently written in our forum about another performance of S.Nathan.
During the interview, he said that he was a football player. When he was bedridden for a long period after getting hurt on his foot, a friend of him suggested that he learn to play flute. That's how he came to learn music! Subsequently, he also learnt to play the saxaphone. Since he was advised that he should confine to just one instrument for getting chances to play in film music composition, he chose to play the saxaphone.
When the interviewer asked him whether he learnt music, he replied in the negative. He said he didn't have enough time even to relish the compositions of MSV and KVM and that listening to their compositions was all the music education he needed.
He then played 'engirundho aasaikal' on the saxaphone. He concluded saying that he wanted to play a song depicting his mother's love for him and played..........
can you guess?.......
'chellakkilikalaam thottilile!'
I suggest we consider this person for honouring in one of our future anniversary programs and also having his saxaphone concert as our music program, if the economics will permit.
Here is the youtube link for 'engirundho aasaikal' played by him in this program.

After posting the above messages, I belatedly observed that this program was telecast in Jan 2012 and this was a repeat (perhaps for the umpteenth time.) However, I think that the links for these have not been shared in our forum so far and I hope at least some of you will enjoy it.
I am sorry if I have, in my enthusiasm, have committed ed a faux pas in my enthusiasm by posting some old stuff. _________________ P Rengaswami (9381409380)

Dear Prthavi Sir,
Yes. I was also one of the fortunate to have watched Nathan's programme in Kamarajar Arangam. In my opinion, it was a 'once in life time' performance and all because of his passion for MSV's music.
Yes. We should also consider him for a programme in msvtimes. But I understand that on that day his budget was around 1.5 to 2 lacs which is beyond our reach presently. But we shall definitely look for some opportune moment.
But I am at least satisfied that I helped him to get a marriage reception programme for one of mine and Srikumar's friends' family marriage.
So let us hope that he performs once for us.
