Dear friends,
'Swing swing unadhu oonjal naan' sung by Jeyachandran and Vani Jeyaram of the seventies is yet another breezy beauty.
The lovely voices of this pair of singers, effectively and so constructively used by our master in so many movies (even into the nineties), are themselves a boon for us listeners - alone, or as a duet. So tender at times, so lovely and yet filled with the necessary bass and the high tones, where required.
Our MM had, by this time, slowly introduced the keyboard to mimic some of the instruments, and really they sound so real, except when you listen very, very carefully. Especially, the flute sounds in this song, is an example.
The gentleness with which the percussion carries us through the song is so mesmerising, but we tend to loose sense of the brisk pace generated by them, and it is so intoxicating....the song just sails through!
Until the arrival of the trumpet, the song is tender, and then we tend to wake up! Even the trumpet is muted to give us boundless joy!
The background violins and the keyboards fill the entire song and accompany the percussion and the singers in a jugalbandi!
Feel as if on a floating wandering cloud, even at the very thought of the song....listen once, and we will be on the cloud, roaming around the skies with MM!
A tender joy! Delicacy of the seventies! Makes me crave for more!
Thanks,
