I am writing this after reading the extensive discussion and anecdotes on the making of the song 'Avalukenna' from the film "Server Sunderam".
It just crossed my mind on a talent of THE DUO which I did not notice till now and therefore wanted to pen it before I forget to do so.
There are many songs of THE DUO ,the grandeur of which would be the same, whether it was for a Hero or Comedian or make shift Hero.Even if a comedian actor such as Mr ChandraBabu was supposed to render a serious song it was so well composed that one could never picture him to be a comedian while listening to the song.[Pirakkumbothum Azhukindrai].
A song for Mr M.R.Radha [Nangal Mannarum Illae. Mandhiri Illae] has a typical Benny Goodman lilt in swing .
I apologize for any duplication if the subject has already been covered
I could not stop admiring THE DUO for their sincerity in giving the best quality music to the people.

Mr Chakravarthy,
In entirely agree with your views that the sincerity of composing shown by VR can never be replicated. If you analyse their albums the chartbusters for the Big Two of Tamil Cinema then, MGR and Sivaji, provided by the duo was of the same quality as the albums rendered for single starrers of Gemini Ganesan, SSR, Muthuraman etc.
Who can forget Gemini starrers Kaathirunda Kangal (the other day it was shown and what a string of songs), Paadakannikkai, Karpagam, Vaazhkai Padagu, Idayathil Nee etc!
For director Sridhar the duo seemed to go the extra mile to compose memorable songs - Nenjilor Aalayam, Nenjam Marappadillai, Policekaaran Magal (to name only a few). Simply said it did not matter who starred or who directed or who produced, the duo was at its best always.
