No match for TKR's Vasantha kalam varumo !

Another PS special

The humming from behind takes you to another universe !

Probably he didnt work much with NT or MGR which made the difference .

Saw a programme sometime back in Jaya tv . He is a superb violin player !

For long I have been looking to listen to songs composed by Sri T K Ramamoorthy. Today, courtesy internet, I was able to download mp3s of nearly ten songs composed by T K Ramamoorthy. Some of them are listed below.

Madras To Pondicherry -- Endha Endha Nenjukulle
Kadhal Jothy --- Kadhal Jothy Inayadadu
Naan -- Pothumo Intha Edam
? -- Pettiyil ...(Ravichandran, Jaya Lalitha)
Thanga Churangam -- Sanadana Kudathile
Then Mazhai -- Neje Nee Po
Then Mazhai -- Vizhiyal Kaadhal Kaditham
Marakka Mudiyuma -- Vasanthakalam

After listening to these are my observations,

1. All the songs are good melodies.
2. Interludes and startup bits are almost same as Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy songs (except for tune and thalam).
3. Use of instruments like guitar, voilin, flute are Ramamoorthy's forte.
4. Ramamoorthy posses very good knowledge in western music also. I felt like listening to ilayaraja in western instrument usage. Ramamoorthy must have inherited from C R Subbaraman.

It is very sad that actors and directors did not allow the partnership with MSV to continue as they insisted changing songs/tunes repeatedly even after recording.

These songs also highlight the genious in MSV in quickly adopting to his own style in orchestration after the split.

Dear Sriram,

'pettiyile pottadaitha pettai kozhi' is from Moondrezhuthu.

You can find this song in Saradha's post in Tamil above.

Thanks irenehastings, I got some more mp3s

Moondrezhuthu -- Kadhalan Vandhan
Prarthanai -- Kadhal Pirandadu
Prarthanai -- Oru Varthai
Pattathurani -- Oorenna Pesum
Soap Sippu Kannadi -- Thookam Kannile

Again, songs have almost the same quality preludes, interludes and voilin BGMs as Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy songs seldom related to VR's tunes. Same quality in voilins, flute, guitar and santoor(?)... Sometimes it appears that more instruments are used than necessary but never noisy;more symphonic.

Listened to Sakthi Leelai songs, even though I did not store them as mp3s.

I think I have listened enough TKR songs to have a good idea about TKR's compositions. Thanks to msvtimes for giving me this opportunity to share my opinion.
