Mr. VIJAYKRISHNAN
I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER MSV APPROACHED THESE 2 SONGS REFERED BY YOU AS JANASIMMODHANI OR EVEN AS HARIKAMBOJI. HE CAN ONLY ANSWER THIS QUESTION?
BUT IN MY OPINION HE HAS APPROACHED THIS SONG AS A MELODY OF 5 CHORDS. THAT IS SA-GA2-PA, RI2-MA2-NI1, GA2-PA-NI1, MA2-DA2-SA AND PA-NI1-SA.
ALL THESE 4 CHORDS IF YOU PLAY IN KEY BOARD CREATES 4 DIFFERENT TONES. SINCE EACH OF THE CHORD HAS 3 SWARAMS. WHAT HE HAS DONE IS THAT HE HAS TAKEN THE SWARAMS AND LINKED ON WITH THE OTHER SO THAT IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A RAAGA BASED COMPOSITION. HOWEVER IN THIS CASE THE SWARAMS IN THESE 4 CHORDS ALL HAPPEN TO COME IN RAAGA HARI KAMBOJI.
THE AAROHANAM AND AVAROHANAM OF HARI KAMBOJI IS
SA -RI2 - GA2- MA2 - PA - DA2 - NI2 - SA
SA - NI2- DA2 - PA - MA2 - GA2 - RI 2 - SA.
YOU CAN NOTICE THE THE SWARAM ARE COMING IN THE CHORDS ALSO.
I AM NOT AWARE OF THE SWARAM OF JANASIMODANI.
I CAN QUOTE FURTHER SONGS IN THIS CHRODS MELODY
SUMAI THANGI SAINTHAL (THANGA PADAKKAM)
ORE PADAL UNNAI AZHAIKKUM (ENGIRUNDHO VANDAL)
SILAR SIRIPPAR SILAR AZHUVAR (PAANA MANNIPPU)
THE FOLLWOING SONGS ARE WITH SLIGHT VARIATION
PAADUVOOR PADINAAL ADA THONDRUM (KANNA EN KADALAN)
VEENAI PESUM (?)
UNNAI ONDRU KETPEN (PUDHIYA PARAVAI)

I had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Murali and listening to his exposition of several songs of MSV, with demonstration on his keyboard. It was an amazing experience for me. Though Mr.Murali claims that he is not well versed in carnatic music, he has a mastery of the notes of several raagaas and he demonstrated how MSV could have composed certain tunes, starting fromthe notes. Mr. Murali says that many of the songs usually identified with some standard raagaas have notes quite different from those of the raagaas. It will be very interesting to witness Mr.Murali's demonstration, especially to those who have god knowledge of swaraas.
