Dear friends,
Malaysia Vasudevan was acting in the Malaysian film Ratha Pei and they came to India for Stage Performance and it seems V. Kumar performed the bgm for that Stage Play and he used Malaysia Vasudev to sing the song "Paalu Vikkura Pathuma" in the film Delli to Madras, which is to be his first song in Tamiz. Immediately after this MM heard of him and recorded his voice for the songs "Maalaiyittu Poomuditha" from Thalai Prasavam and "Suno suno" in the song "Indiya Naadu En Veedu" in the film Bharatha Vilas. Delli to Madras was released in early 1972 and Bharatha Vilas in March 1973.
It was Bharatha Vilas which made him popular.

Friends,
MV did not speak much of our MM, though his original inspirations were shivaji and MM to drag him to movies. He almost used to talk of IR or other things, except MM. For whatever reasons, only better known to him!
His voice was better used by MM and for his own compositions. The songs for saranaajali, Bhatatha vilas, andha ezhu naatkal stand out. They were normally full throated, unrestricted singing, when it came to MM. MV also tuned a few films. His tunes were really nice, using his own voice too!
His private devotional albums were better off. One of his earliest albums on Sri Sathya Sai Baba was the most excellent of all! He had some of his own lyrics, his tunes and the best of it all was his voice for a few songs in that album.
Most of his songs for IR or other MDs were not very good. Especially, in the name of imitating Shivaji's voice for replacing TMS, his songs were quite painful, but got passed on as Shivaji's or IR's hits.
Anyway, let us remember him for some good songs (singing for all MDs) and those few nice ones for our MM!
